Guitar Hero

This is Julie, and my attempt at a different take on the standard guitar pic. To help get you in the mood, I've included some Bugs Bunny lyrics from 'Hillbilly Hare'. Enjoy.

Now into the brook and fish for the trout, Dive right in and splash about. Trout, trout, pretty little trout, One more splash and come right out.

Magdalena

Sure, Poland is the birthplace of famous people like John Paul II, Copernicus, and even Marie Curie. But what many people don't know is that Poland is also famous for Magdalena! She graciously withstood hours of grooming, public wardrobe changes, scaling fences, and police hassles to give us this fantastic shoot. With Janka on hair & makeup, this shoot was one of my favorites. Thanks Magdalena, we're looking forward to Round 2!

Amber

Hats off to Amber who agreed to her first "official" photoshoot. Uncertainty notwithstanding, and despite a buss-load of gawking tourists and the dirty Delaware river, she was able to pull this off without a hitch.

Mannequin

What is it about mannequins that sends a chill down so many a spine? Is it simply a Pavlovian response to all those old-school B horror movies we saw as children? Or is it something else? I came across an entire family of mannequins recently, and I couldn't help but think that each one of those guys had been partying something fierce the night before.

720 Nanometers

That's the length of light which is allowed to pass through to the image sensor on this camera, while the visible spectrum (you know, ROYGBIV) is blocked. The result is a striking display of otherworldly colors. Green foliage is rendered completely white, while other colors are represented in unique ways. Awesome for landscapes, but not so hot for portraiture. People turn into ghosts, while the eyes go black and hair a bizarre shade of blue. Very strange.

Chris Rock

I was given the opportunity recently to photograph Chris Rock while he and his family enjoyed the day at Six Flags Great Adventure. It was interesting watching the people at the park recognize him and point, while others would rush up for a quick handshake, etc. Still others complimented him on his recent movies. Unfortunately, he only agreed to a few quick photos early in the day, so I wasn't able to get creative, but nevertheless it was an interesting day. One things for sure though...he definitely kept it real.

From BBQ's to Head Shots.

This is what I like to do: turn something relatively insipid like a BBQ, and turn it into something entertaining! Some of you may know this lady as none other than Nikki B. She's funny, easy going, up for anything, and luckily for me, willing to sit idle while I crawl around taking pictures. Let her know what you think! (via the 'comments' button!)

Graffiti Greeting

You have to love the uncommon store foyers in Philadelphia. You just don't see this at the GAP in your local mall. Maybe it's just me, but I find these entranceway's far more interesting than the stores themselves.

Thundercats

So I went to Six Flags Theme Park over the weekend to spend a little time with my favorite 600lb tigers. The real trick with these guys is to maintain that fine line between being hungry enough to want to dive for your food, but not so hungry that they'll simply gobble the trainers up whole, a la Roy Horn. And you really can't appreciate just how huge these tigers are until you're right up on them with a mere 4 inches of Plexiglas between the two of you. Anybody notice the big cat theme going on here lately? Pure coincidence, I swear.

King of the Urban Jungle

This guy beckons at the entrance to some random shop in Center City. Not sure what else to say about this thing except that I love it, and I'm gonna try to figure out a way to eventually get this in my living room. All hail the King.

Hungry, Hungry Hip... I Mean Horses.

These poor horses...an entire football field worth of full, lush green grass for the taking. And what do they do? They eat wood. Or each other. Someone give these guys some hay! But seriously, there's some great horse photography to be found throughout Chesterfield, what with all the farms and green acres. What I'd really like to do is find someone who knows how to jump these things. That would make quite the photograph...

Garden Spot

It was back to the beautiful Sayen Gardens for this shoot. Little did I know there would be four weddings going on when I showed up. As a result, we were a bit limited as for places to shoot within the Gardens. Nevertheless, I managed to get a few interesting shots. Nicole was great, and she didn't even mind the ruckus caused by the large bull frogs all around us.

Pure Sugar

She goes by the name of 'Sugar', and she and I got together via Model Mayhem, a model/photographer networking website. This was my first shoot with someone from MM, and it went off without a hitch. She was very courteous and professional. The shoot took place in Center City, Philadelphia, around South and Bainbridge Streets.

Czech yourself.

So the other day I had the opportunity to work with Janka. Never before have I worked with such a relaxed, confident & energetic model. She had a really good time and it enabled me to relax as well and concentrate on trying to capture something new. Here's a couple. All shots taken at 50mm, f1.4, ISO 800. Lighting consisted of three el-cheapo tungsten-bulb tin hats, graciously provided by fellow shooter Josh Pelta-Heller (check him out here). I suppose someday I'll have the cash to buy some real lighting....someday....

Eileen The All-American

Can you tell I've been digging on black & whites lately? This is my friend Eileen. She's a self-confessed All American girl. I agree. A big shout out to Eileen here, because this photo was taken outside today, with temperatures in the 20's. I was all bundled up, but she stood bravely in nothing but her white button down. Braver than I...
